Botox in Manhattan, NYC & Long Island
Several aspects of life affect your appearance, including spending time outdoors and stress. One of the earliest issues that men and women develop is frown lines. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Craig Baldenhofer, MD, recommends Botox® for men and women in Manhattan, New York City and Long Island to treat horizontal lines on the forehead.
What is Botox®?
Botox® is an injectable treatment for dynamic wrinkles that develop on the forehead and around the eyes. The product contains a special ingredient that temporarily paralyzes the facial muscles. Frown lines are safely and effectively treated by limiting muscle movement as they are caused by muscle contractions. Over time, the skin becomes permanently indented in the form of a small horizontal crease just above the brow area.
What are the Benefits of Botox®?
Treating wrinkles in the forehead area may be treated with a brow lift , but not every patient has reached the point of needing to have excess skin removed. Botox® offers our patients a quick way to soften frown lines without surgery. The treatment requires no downtime and can be completed in 30 to 60 minutes. Best of all, Botox® requires no incisions, so you will not have scars from your Botox® procedure.
Who is a Good Candidate for Botox®?
We recommend Botox® for patients between 18 and 65 years old. Younger patients may want to use Botox® to delay the formation of crow’s feet and frown lines. Candidates for Botox® have:
- Crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes
- Glabellar lines (vertical lines between the eyes)
- Horizontal lines across the forehead
What Should I Expect from Botox®?
You will need several Botox® injections during your treatment. If you are uncomfortable with needles or injections, please let us know during your consultation appointment. We may be able to use a topical numbing cream to help you remain relaxed. The needle is very small, yet you may feel a slight pinch as the needle is inserted into the skin. A small amount of Botox® is injected into the muscle, then we remove the needle and move to the next injection site. Depending on the area being treated, the session may take 10 minutes or up to one hour.
You may have some minor symptoms around each injection site, such as spots of blood, swelling and tenderness. This should only last for two or three days. It may take three to seven days to see the full results of your Botox® treatment. Most patients enjoy anti-aging benefits for four to six months.

The cost of Botox® treatments varies by patient, so we are better able to provide a cost after your free consultation. We offer several payment options, including financing through CareCredit®.
