Before your makeover, it’s important to make sure you’ve done all your research. You’re going to want the best doctor possible and Dr. Baldenhofer is a board-certified plastic surgeon with a supportive staff and we are always happy to help our guests feel as comfortable as possible.

#2: Ask About Medicine

You should always be sure to fully disclose whatever medicine you have been taking within the past few months with your doctor. Be sure to ask what you can and can’t continue and don’t be afraid to inquire about post-op prescriptions and painkillers. Lastly, don’t ever be embarrassed by asking about a stool softener!

#3: Find A Post-Op Buddy

Make sure you talk to a close family member or friend before your makeover about having someone to help you out during your recovery. Having a buddy to help you get back on your feet will to a much speedier recovery.

#4: Make A Recovery Station

You’re going to want to prepare to spend some time in bed after the makeover. Setting up a nightstand with plenty of things to keep you comfortable and entertained is highly suggested. If you like a lot of pillows, we even suggest setting up as many as possible for yourself within arm’s reach of where you plan on resting.

#5: Talk to Your Partner

Setting expectations for the people you are living with before your makeover prevents negative emotions and conflict during the time you are supposed to be resting. Make sure you have open communication with those around you during this time. This type of support can be much more helpful than you might think.

#6: Get Plenty of Rest

After your makeover you will most likely be very tired, so plenty of rest is advised. However, with that in mind, you’re going to want to take little breaks for resting in between. Light activity is very healthy for the body during this time.

#7: Drink Lots of Fluids

Hydration is also important for your recovery. It will also give you a reason to need to get up and move around a little bit the way your body needs. Remember to drink clear liquids and nothing too sugary. Water is suggested, but things like coconut water are good as well.

#8: Ask Your Doctor About Showering

Depending on what type of mommy makeover package you have, your showering routine may require some specific tips and advice from Dr. Baldenhofer. These will be discussed with you during your recovery to make sure you are treated with as much care as possible.

#9: Maintain Your Medication

Make sure you follow your medication schedule strictly to maintain the highest level of comfort as possible. Your pain medicine is a crucial part of your recovery, so be sure you and your buddy stay on top of taking it.

#10: Give Yourself Time to Heal

The urge to go back to work, or get back to an active daily routine will be strong, but remember it is in your best interest to take it easy. Make sure you take plenty of time off work and that you have plenty of help from your buddy, or buddies, to limit any excessive movement and activity.
